Shaista Roshan is an Indo-Canadian filmmaker raised in the UAE, she finds beauty in hybrids and the unique perspective it allows. She believes it to be her lowkey superpower!
Founder of Shifting Sands, she works as an independent Creative producer with internationally renowned award-winning directors and writers.
A Canadian Screen award-nominated producer, her recent producing credits include Karupy (TIFF 2025, Slamdance 2026, Raindance 2026), Queen Mother (InsideOut 2026, VQFF 2025, Reelworld 2025, Whistler Film Festival 2025). With over a decade of experience producing across MENA, South Asia, and the US, she has collaborated with leading showrunners on 'The Greatest' (Amazon), 'Tokyo Vice' (HBO Max), 'Brilliant Minds' (NBC), The Doctors (CBS) and worked extensively on regional MENA productions such as Sabah Al Dar, Sha'er Al-Million, Dirhami, and Andama Yatil Massa (ADTV) . She served on the jury for The Northern Ontario Music & Film Awards in 2026, and is currently a programmer for Slamdance Film Festival in Los Angeles for 2027.
Her feature film ‘Unbraided’ is currently a part of The Red Sea Film Feature Film Program 2026, her series was also selected to further develop intro production for Dubai Media Councils - DFGC & Amazon MGM Series Talent Program (2026) & TIFF’s Big Pitch - Creators of Color Incubator (2024). She is also a 2024 alumna of the esteemed CFC Producers’ Lab
Through her love for storytelling and its potential to inspire change, her slate is reflective of her nomadic production experiences around the globe and aims to champion hy-stories that hone a hybrid quality that translates across varied cultures and its peoples.
